HOW TO MAKE HOME MADE CHILLI
HOME MADE CHILLI
Chili is a delicious and spicy dish that's perfect for warming up during cold weather or for adding some heat to your meals. Here's a basic recipe to make chili:
Ingredients:
1 pound (450g) ground beef or turkey
1 onion, chopped
3 cloves of garlic, minced
1 bell pepper, diced
1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon oregano
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions, or diced avocado
Instructions:
Heat a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the ground beef or turkey and cook, breaking it up with a spoon or spatula, until browned and cooked through.
Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and diced bell pepper to the pot. Cook for a few minutes until the vegetables are softened.
Stir in the chili powder, cumin, paprika, and oregano. Cook for another minute to toast the spices and enhance their flavors.
Pour in the diced tomatoes with their juice and the drained and rinsed kidney beans. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot and let it simmer for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
Taste the chili and season with salt and pepper according to your preference. Adjust the amount of chili powder or other spices if desired.
Continue to simmer for another 15 to 30 minutes to thicken the chili to your liking. If it becomes too thick, you can add a small amount of water or broth to thin it out.
Once the chili is cooked and thickened to your desired consistency, remove it from the heat.
Serve the chili hot in bowls. You can garnish it with shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions, or diced avocado if desired.
Enjoy your homemade chili!
Feel free to adjust the recipe according to your taste preferences by adding other vegetables like corn or adjusting the spiciness level by adding more or less chili powder.
